CHST proudly celebrates Dr. Hum Yan Chai’s fruitful four-month sabbatical (August–November 2024) with the Machine Learning Group (EISLAB Division, Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering) at Lulea University of Technology (LTU), Sweden.
During this period, Dr. Hum collaborated on cutting-edge research in machine learning and computer vision, addressing unique challenges in Nordic environments ️❄️. His work focused on:
-Machine learning-based vehicle detection in extreme conditions
️ -Challenges like snow-covered roads, low-light scenarios, and weather variability
-Advancing autonomous driving, intelligent transportation systems, and AI-driven mobility solutions
Beyond his research, Dr. Hum actively engaged in interdisciplinary discussions on AI-driven healthcare and mobility applications, fostering meaningful exchanges . His journey also included exploring Sweden’s rich cultural heritage:
-A visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Gammelstad Church Town
-Witnessing the magical Northern Lights
