We are pleased to share that Mr. Shahid Iqbal, Graduate Research Assistant under the Centre for Healthcare Science and Technology (CHST), Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), presented his research at the 4th International Conference on Smart Cities, Automation & Intelligent Computing Systems (ICON-SONICS 2025), held from 14–17 October 2025 in Malacca.
His paper, titled:
“Gender Differences in EEG Absolute Power Within Alzheimer’s Disease, Frontotemporal Dementia, and Cognitively Normal Individuals”
was featured in the Signal & Language Processing session. The study explores frequency-specific and topographic EEG characteristics to support early detection and gender-specific biomarker identification across Alzheimer’s Disease (AD), Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD), and cognitively normal (CN) groups.
These findings highlight the potential of quantitative EEG (qEEG) as a tool for more personalized and precise prognosis in neurodegenerative disorders.
CHST congratulates Mr. Shahid Iqbal and the research team for their contribution and for representing CHST and UTAR at this international platform.
