We are proud to announce that Mr. Saad Ahmed Syed, a Ph.D. student from the Centre for Healthcare Science and Technology (CHST), recently presented his research paper at the prestigious IEEE 8th International Conference on Signal and Image Processing Applications (ICSIPA 2024). The event, organized by the IEEE Signal Processing Society Malaysia Chapter, took place at the Concorde Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
ICSIPA is a highly regarded biennial event that brings together researchers, industry professionals, and academics to discuss the latest advancements in signal and image processing. The conference covers a diverse range of topics, including signal processing algorithms, machine learning, biomedical signal analysis, and multimedia applications. With keynote speeches, technical presentations, and specialized workshops, ICSIPA fosters collaboration and knowledge exchange among experts from around the world.
This year’s conference featured keynote speakers such as Dr. Shaikh A. Fattah from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and Prof. Ir. Dr. Nor Ashidi bin Mat Isa from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), delivering insights into humanitarian technology and the future of signal and image processing.
As part of the Biomedical Signal Processing (BSP) segment, Mr. Saad Ahmed Syed presented his paper titled “Comparative Analysis of Deep Learning Architectures for Blood Cancer Classification.” This research, an integral part of his Ph.D. work, focuses on evaluating deep learning models for both binary and multi-class classification tasks using unique datasets. The presentation concluded with recommendations for the most suitable model for clinical applications, emphasizing the importance of accurate and efficient classification in medical diagnostics.
The IEEE ICSIPA 2024 was a remarkable event, bridging the gap between academic research and industry applications in signal and image processing. The conference continues to serve as an important platform for showcasing innovative solutions and cutting-edge research that address real-world challenges, particularly in healthcare.
We congratulate Mr. Saad Ahmed Syed on his successful presentation and look forward to the impact of his future contributions to the field!
