It is an honour to serve as Chairperson of CHST as the Centre continues to advance UTAR’s commitment to impactful, industry relevant, and socially responsible research. At a time when healthcare systems are shaped by digital transformation, data driven decision making, and rising societal demands, CHST positions itself as a translational research hub that bridges fundamental science, engineering innovation, and real world healthcare needs.
CHST’s vision is driven by four synergistic working groups. Sensors and Robotics focuses on intelligent and deployable systems that bring healthcare closer to communities. Biomechanics advances patient centric and data informed understanding of human movement and physiology to support precision care. Bioscience Technology accelerates the translation of life science discoveries into practical diagnostics and biomedical solutions. Signal Processing, including Artificial Intelligence, forms the digital core of CHST, enabling advanced analytics, medical imaging, and trustworthy AI for clinical and decision support applications.
Guided by UTAR’s strategic emphasis on translational research, talent development, and industry engagement, CHST is committed to nurturing interdisciplinary collaboration, strengthening partnerships with healthcare and technology stakeholders, and translating research outcomes into measurable societal impact. The Centre also serves as a platform for developing future ready graduates and researchers equipped to lead in healthcare innovation.
