Centre of Healthcare Science and Technology, IEEE-EMBS Malaysia Chapter Technical Talks

This is an excellent place for you to add a paragraph.The first 2013 CHST-IEEE-EMBS Malaysia Chapter Technical Talks series have successfully been organized on 13th March 2013 in Faculty of Engineering and Science, Kuala Lumpur Campus. The joint organizers have assembled four (4) speakers in the field of Rehabilitation Robotics, and Biomechanics from UiTM, Monash University, and CHST. The activities have attracted participations from both UTAR students, and IEEE-EMBS members. Some 20 participants attended the talks.

The first two speakers shared their expertise in the field of rehabilitation robotics. Dr. Low CY from Director of Center of Excellence for Humanoid Robotics and Bio-Sensing (HuRoBs), UiTM has shared his work in a model developed to train physiotherapists in performing physiotherapy of the upper extremities. Following Mr. Aziz from Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, UiTM has shared his work in Ankle-Foot-Orthoses Design that will aid in rehabilitation of individuals with lower limb movement deficiencies. Dr. Darwin Gouwanda from Monash University Malaysia campus provided his insiders on the various technologies in human gait analysis that are utilized in rehabilitation therapies. The last speaker of the session, Mr. Chong YZ from CHST wrapped up the session with his current work on Development of Wearable Instrumentation for Children with Cerebral Palsy to the attendees of the talk series.

The session concluded with presentation of token of appreciation from Prof. Goi BM, Chair of Centre of Healthcare Science and Technology (CHST) to the invited speakers who shared their experiences, and technical knowledge to all attendees. In addition, light refreshments were also served at the end of the session. CHST, and IEEE-EMBS Malaysia Chapter would like record sincere appreciation to all invited speakers.
